Darned Vandyke Edging from Treasures in Needlework
This edging, found on pages 373-374 of Treasures in Needlework,is a typical net square-mesh Vandyke. It has one square at the point of the Vandyke and one square between Vandykes. This edge has 23 rows of square mesh above 7 rows of Vandyke. The design meant to be embroidered on the netting is found in the book. My purpose was to show how to create the net background.

Border of the Rose Antimacassar from Treasures in Needlework
The border for the square-mesh antimacassar that appears on pages 300-301 of Treasures in Needlework is net around the outer edge of the netting into each single loop that lies flat against the two squares it spans.

Rows 2-3: Net 1 knot in each loop.
Row 4: (3/4-inch mesh) Net 3 knots in the first loop, *net 1 knot in the next loop, net 5 knots in the following loop*; repeat from * to * ending with net 4 knots in the last loop.
Row 5: (#4 knitting needle) Net 1 knot in each loop.
Row 6: (#4 knitting needle) Net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops, skip the next loop, *net 1 knot in each loop for 5 loops, skip the next loop*; repeat from * to * ending with net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops.
Row 7: (#4 knitting needle) Net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops, skip the next loop, *net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops, skip the next loop*; repeat from * to * ending with net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops.
Row 8: (#4 knitting needle) Net one knot in each loop for 2 loops, skip the next loop, *net 1 not in each loop for 3 loops, skip the next loop*; repeat from * to * , ending with net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops.

Shell Edging from Treasures in Needlework
There was no illustration included with this edge; however, the instructions were clear and easy to follow for Shell Edging on page 289 of Treasures in Needlework.
My directions for the sample
Row 1: (#5 knitting needle) Net 9 loops in the foundation loop. [odd number]
Row 2: (#5 knitting needle) Net 1 knot in each loop.
Row 3: (3/4" mesh stick) Net 3 knots in the first loop, *skip the next loop, net 4 knots in the following loop*; repeat from * to *.
Row 4: (#2 knitting needle) Net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops, *skip the next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops*; repeat from * to *.
Row 5: (#2 knitting needle) Net 1 knot in each loop.
Row 6: (3/4" mesh stick) Net 1 knot in the first loop, net 6 knots in the second loop, *without going around the mesh stick, pass the needle up through the following loop, down into the next loop and around the mesh stick, then up through the following loop, bring the thread behind the mesh stick and net 1 knot in the same loop, now bring the thread across the mesh stick and net 5 more knots in the same loop*; repeat from * to *, ending with net 1 knot in the last loop.
Row 7: (#2 knitting needle) Net 1 knot in each loop, including the one wrapped around the mesh stick in the previous row (that loop may need to be pulled into position or adjusted so it hangs between the two single loops).
Row 8: (#2 knitting needle) Net 1 knot in each loop.
